The Halogen Workshop was voted by our staff as the most rewarding training course we have ever provided them with. The staff all felt that is was a really valuable day and they even had fun despite the expectation that a financial planning day would be as much fun as a trip the dentist! Venn and Louise definitely know their material and our staff felt it was a great way to get them thinking and planning about their financial security.
Our staff all commented that it was not something that they expected an employer to provide them with as it was purely for their own personal development not professional development as most courses are. They also felt it was a very generous thing for the Management of Tempest to provide them with as it was not only paid for by the company but it was in company time. Fabulous for staff retention in such a competitive job market as they felt it showed we cared about them as an individual not just as a worker. It was great for team cohesiveness too.
Highly recommend the workshop for all employers wanting to make a real impact with their staff!
We will make sure it is a yearly event so everyone in the business can experience it!
Thanks again |

| Recent EMPLOYEE FINDINGS |
Our current research has indicated there is a lack of education and knowledge in financial matters amongst employees despite the growth of superannuation and the increase of fund providers in the financial planning industry. Our recent findings indicate some disturbing facts:
- 97% of employees have some form of financial stress
- 80% of employees have taken time off work to attend to financial matters
- 75% of employees have said they do not understand their company superannuation scheme. Even those that do are often in the wrong fund selection suited to their age and risk profile
- Only 10% of employees understand the amount of capital required to fund a comfortable retirement
- Very few employees understand the laws of wealth creation even though there is a considerable demand by all employees to become financial independent
- Most respondents say that increasing payments to their mortgage is their only form of saving and only 15% of those with home loans are using this strategy
- 60% of company CFO’s don’t understand their corporate superannuation plan
- Our findings also indicate that many employees have increased their non-deductible debt over the previous twelve months
- Employees are often unaware and unsure of who can help them in financial matters
- Advice is not independent and is often product orientated

| WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASSET AN EMPLOYEE HAS DURING THEIR EMPLOYMENT? |
| |
All employees biggest asset is their ability to earn income. However, very few understand how to maximize this resource or how to create wealth. Regardless of the level of income most employees spend what they earn. Very few have a plan or even understand budgeting. Very few have an idea as to what capital amount is needed for financial independence. It is increasingly difficult to gain impartial advice in helping to identify personal financial goals and strategies designed to achieve outcomes. If available this advice is very costly and is usually reserved for the high income or high net worth individual.
Financial planning is not about markets and products. It is about creating wealth and financial freedom for individuals. |

| THE GOOD NEWS… |
| |
| The answer is not a salary increase |
| Improving your employee’s financial wellbeing can result in a 30% boost in productivity and your company’s financial performance (The National Report on Work and Family, 2001) |
| |
| The answer is education and financial management. |
Your employees are working some 40 – 50 hours per week to improve profits and company value (as they should) but they have very little time or understanding to look after their own financial wellbeing.
Most employees are working to achieve financial success for themselves. Very few succeed.
With Financial literacy poor and personal debt at an all time high, financial stress is affecting us all. Education is a must for all employees.
How can Halogen help? We work with companies to help their employees understand and benefit from financial planning and education.
Working with companies like Australian Opera, Hewitt Packard, Merck Sharp Dohme, and Fairfax, we have the experience to show how we can enhance your biggest asset – your people (Click here to go to testimonials). |
